Indigo Deli was first launched in 2005, in Mumbai and soon unfurled to the poshest localities of the city of dreams, with style and a charisma and charm of its own. If you’ve ever been to Colaba, and experienced the Indigo escapade, you would surely agree that there’s nothing better; the pure serenity, the prepossessing beauty, the piquant fare, it all makes up for an unparalleled experience. Opening up its doors to Delhi, in Vasant Kunj, the first odyssey was a rather successful one followed by the new venture in DLF Cyber Hub. I happened to visit the DLF Cyber Hub outlet and had a delightful afternoon.
The meal started with the soup of the day – Smoked cheese & corn soup with Jalapeño pistou, which was a light, warm, homely soup. Next, I had the Citrus Salad, which had fresh Citrus fruits, bitter greens, red onions, kalamata olives, feta and citrus dressing. Each and every element added depth and flavour to make this salad perfect, and my favourite one. The Roasted cauliflower salad with green peas and baby greens with toasted almonds and ranch dressing was a pleasant surprise. Not something most people would pick out of the menu, yet is a must try. Wine poached pear salad with arugula, carmelized gorgonzola, spiced pecans and wine reduction was delightful. It has a strong taste of wine but perfectly balanced by the other elements. Next, I had the Curry leaf & mustard tempered wok tossed tempura broccoli, which had a strong curry leaf flavour and was rather salty but all in all it was a great appetiser.
Going onto the next course, I had the 3 smoked peppers and 3 cheese pizza. Indigo Deli, undeniably has the best pizza of the nation. This particular one in itself was so delicious, the paper thing crust, the toppings, the different kinds of cheese, it was mouth-watering! For dessert, my favourite course, I had a dessert platter which included – Cheesecake Brownie, which was the most delicious brownie I’ve had till date, and I loved it even though I’m not a fan of brownies. The croissant pudding was my absolute favourite, it was warm, it was sweet, it was everything a good dessert should be. The caramel cheesecake too was pure heaven. Additionally, the Creme Brûlée was everything I had been looking for, the custard was great, the caramelisation on top was just right. Their bakery products are exceptional! They have a great variety of teas and coffees as well. Their French Press coffees are amazing, and I tried the Indigo House, which was smooth and strong. The Green Tea with Apple and Cinnamon had the perfect amount of flavour.
The service was outstanding and the chefs were open to all kinds of feedback.
Also, this place has some really great deals for breakfast and for big groups for lunch.
I’m surely going back and trying the other dishes, have my eyes on all the other desserts and of course the pizza!
