Scrumptious, gorgeous and heavenly desserts. Surprisingly so, but that’s how I’d like to start this review. Delicious dimsums, delectable sushis, appetizing main course and all so wonderful desserts. Now I usually wouldn’t pay so much stress on ordering desserts at a restaurant but Yum Yum Cha has the best possible selection on their menu.
I remember when Yum Yum Cha opened its doors to the public at its very first outlet in Select Citywalk, Saket. It was the same day as Burger King launched its first outlet in India. And even with such large crowds being pulled away by Burger King, Yum Yum Cha was absolutely sold out. And to reach a wider audience, Yum Yum Cha has finally entered the happening Cyber Hub, Gurugram area.
The interiors are chic, colourful yet subtle. They give a modern and lively feeling as soon as you enter. And of course it’s always hustling and bustling with large crowds especially at lunch hours with corporate employees from all around. The menu too is designed pretty well, with pictures depicting the dishes, along with the name of the respective dishes. The servers are well trained and always ready with their recommendations.
The dishes I tried are as follows:
Cantonese Veg Dimsums: With the classic combination, these dimsums were just perfect. I wasn’t too impressed with the sauces, but the texture and flavours of the dimsums made up for them.
Cheese & Peppers Japanese Dumplings: I tried Japanese Dumplings for the very first time and they were delicious. The filling was very tasty.
Enoki Tempura Sushi: This mushroom sushi had a fried mushroom and onion filling. It was quite delicious.
Ike Bana: A tofu based sushi roll, it turned out to be better than the other sushi I had.
Sichuan Sizzling Sticky Rice: I loved the concept and presentation of this dish. It’s difficult and rare to find something like this, especially when it’s made this well.
Red Thai Curry: Probably the best Thai curry I’ve had till date. It was rich and flavoursome. I loved the presentation, especially how it was served with 2 bowls to eat.
Blackberry Mochi Ice Cream: Even though I loved all the other dishes, this ice cream was a showstopper. I loved every bit of it and would totally recommend it. Rather I’d say, go to Yum Yum Cha and have the mochi ice cream first and then place the rest of your order.
Espresso Crème Brulee: Crème Brule is one of my all time favourite desserts, and an espresso Crème Brulee on top of that, is even better. Although it was a tinge too dark and strong, I quite liked it.
Pomegranate and Ginger Drink: They have a variety of fun bottles with good flavour combinations. I tried the pomegranate and ginger one, It had the perfect balance of both elements. At first you might feel that the taste of ginger is strong but with a few more sips, it gets better and better.
